building paradise for the birds

woke up this morning....to a bunch more...now brings the total to 28....and when i moved them to the brooder there was still a bunch of movement in the shells and whatever noise they make coming from them....well busy day

Busy busy busy. So many baby birds. Lol. Great comparative next to the quarter. They are so tiny. I thought the cotton ball toothpick legged doms at the feed store were small. You certainly keep a level head considering your volume. I don't what I'd do with that many chicks at once. Lol.
Im sure we would all love to see your garden. I had my suspicions, I knew it was lurking somewhere there behind all those pictures.
Always looking forward to more, keep it up.

well up to like 28 quail now and still hatching so over the 50 percent thresh hold....thats for sure...very happy with the outcome on the mailed eggs...also just got done moving the chicken eggs to the hatcher...and wow...about a 100 made it to lockdown...3 out of 5 black polish with the white crest made it...also pretty happy...so well see how many hatch out very soon...expect hatch is on friday...so probably thursday they will start hatching...i did notice that the ones that hatch out the earliest seem to be the strongest with the best features..ie no crooked toes and such...also had one quail that hatched with a crooked neck...it cant stand on balance so he will be culled....wonder what thats from....any ideas or web links...this is the first time i have seen this in a bird...also the quail are way more aggressive then anything...i just seen one of the quail totally pick on the cull bird and drag it around by the foot...and then grabbed another bird buy the head and started to drag that one around...very shocking considering these birds are only like a day old....well off to work i go...have a lot to do...be back in a flash...stay tuned...

Holy smokes! I fell behind on this thread while I was going through my first time hatch and so much has happened! Your chicks are adorable! And bountiful! LOL Congrats on all the successes! :)

well its been awhile since i have been on....update...going to be building four hoop coops for right now and some more later...hatched all three polish...so egggcited about that....also some of the fly tieing eggs are hatching as well....so pumped about that....and the peach goldens seem to lay an egg every other day now...so im starting to collect them for the hatch...cant wait...also should be getting the gff chicks next week...but well see how that goes...as with these birds you never no what will happen...anyways here is some pics...

this guy couldnt hold himself up...it wasnt splayed legs but put it on for a day....and it still had troubles but now seems to learn how to walk...weird...this was the first time with this...you can see how the legs are positioned...and thats how they were even after the splayed leg contraption was put on....

I think the band between the legs needs to be tighter...so the legs are closer together?
