Building plans for coop/run

I took your advice and it led me to a pricey chicken coop site. 13K for that coop. So thats out. Still mulling over ideas. I have some one who can build a 10 x 10 run but I also need a coop. Thanks for your help so much.

Cottonwood shanty sells a coop design I may try but with modifications.

That's cray-cray!!
Got the link?
Would love to see it.

It is Tillys coop on Horizon Structures. No prices listed you have to call to get prices. Nice coops but crazy expensive!
Ah, Thanks....so did you call to get that price?
They don't show much detail of the inside, but the roosts and nests they show don't look good to me. I find more beauty in function than form.

Do you think 100 square feet ( with 6 foot hight) is sufficient for 8 chickens?
100sqft in just the coop? Plenty of space and room to grow the flock.

100 square feet for just the pen not including the coop. Im now thinking of 12 x 12, so 144 sq feet. I thought the thinking was 10 sq feet per chicken for the run.

Yes, but in most cases it's a bare minimum, bigger is always better.
Your space can depend on your climate, predator load and the weather/predator proofing of your run. Those space numbers are a guideline, not written in stone, too many variables.

A belated Welcome to BYC! @jbahros
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

you could probably start with a shed and have the contractor customize what is needed. It will be a lot easier than building from scratch.
