building RUN for chickens. Help please?

the goats wont be able to access chicken feed if that why u are asking, but the chickens will be able to go into the pasture with goats when free ranging

goats will be nigerian and maybe a nubian. hopefully no horns. does and wethers
dont have any yet. still shopping.

The same run might be OK as long as the chicken food is kept inside the chicken coop. But having the same living quarters might not work out so easily. Are they sharing a coop also

Oh OK. It is about the feed and the fact that goats are extremely destructive. They don’t mean to be that’s just the nature of goats. So they can mess up a chicken coop pretty bad. We just had to repair one of our extras because of one of my goats. How tall is that lowest part of your run and what type of goats are you Planning on getting?

no. the barn is divided to ceiling with chicken wire. chickens get half and goats other half. goats wont be able to get into the nesting, roosting and eating area at all.

I love Nubians they are Mischev I love Nubians they are Troublemakers. But I think they all are. Nubians are just super silly and super talkative. And they can give you between 1 to 2 quarts of milk a day after you’ve breed them. But I love horns on goats.

Well if you’re getting goats you definitely want to use heavy gauge for their fence and the chickens. Because I left the door to the run open one time and saw the destruction that for goats can cause to the interior. Along with gorging on all the chicken feet they can find. It depends on what type of goats you’re getting and how high the lowest part of your runners. I have four very mischievous goats so I’ve had to find all sorts of ways to keep Off of out of and not go under all sorts of things
Yes, goats are regular Houdinis.... We had a goat dairy for about 14 years (still breed and raise them for meat and milk a couple for our own use) and it is a whole other thing learning how to keep them penned. It has to be tall cause they jump, has to be low to the ground they will go under, slats close together and holes small so they can't get through :barnie:he:th:idunno:confused::he:he:he:he:he
Have you ever kept lamanche? (no ears) they are by far the worse even electric fence won't keep them in and they can get themselves out of a yoke.

the lowest part (see photo in first post) is about elbow height- easy peasy for a goat id imagine (my 4 yr old can climb on it!) but the "skylights" will be the top 1/2 (not lower half) but i will need to prevent a 50 lb goat from falling through!

i think the ears are the best part of a goat!

I am trying to avoid horns because of my 3 daughters faces! (they are small kids and i like their teeth)

Just to let you know goats will tear apart chicken wire in less than 30 minutes. Some boards in between might work better or a more cost-effective way you could use pallets to split there at areas

Those goats will be more than 50 pounds. Oh in the picture I was under the impression it was about 5 foot high and then I was going to just suggest extending the roofing out. But elbow hiIs different. I’ll have to do some thinking on that one

the divide between in barn and in coop will be solid board or mix of wire over barn board
