Just a year ago i built this to start my very first flock. I was so proud of it and now it's ready to go again for their babies! The second generation. It's
4' x 2' with a mesh hinged lid. I held it all together with L brackets inside and out for easier disassembly and storage when not in use. I put down a layer of pine shavings, then puppy pads, then another thin layer of shavings. Makes cleanup so easy. Just lift up the puppy pads with the shavings on them, add clean pads back, then another layer of fresh shavings. The puppy pads also keep water messes off the plywood to keep it from molding and rotting. I have 37 chicks in lockdown. Day 20. Two external pips so far so it was time to set up the brooder box and get it ready. Will be raising chicks any day now
