We now have six chicks, with nine eggs still to hatch, yay Broody Bunch! We have three hens sharing 15 eggs, now nine eggs, six chicks. No one hen seems to particularly be in charge of anything, it's a group effort. When one gets up, the others cover the eggs, though no one seems concerned about the chicks running around. All but the very youngest chick seem to be doing great, hopping in and out of the nesting box, running around the inside of the small chicken house. Today, one of the chicks (#4 in hatch order) had what appeared to be dried blood on his head, near his ear. Checking in an hour later, there is now fresh blood on him in that spot. Do we remove him from the other chicks and moms?
We were quite unprepared for chicks, so we do not have a brooder set up. We could put him and another chick in a box, and bring them in the house, but will that be warm enough without the light? They range from 4 days to about eight hours old. The older ones are eating and drinking well, the bloody head is really the only issue. As of now. :flThanks!

I have some of my chicks inside, they where fine. I put them in a warm room, next to a heater. I leave the light on in that room all the time, and they seem to do well. I just check on them every few hours so they won't overheat.
I always have more than one chick in the house at one time, so they don't get lonely.
Love the picture!
