i have one hen that spends most of her time sitting in the nesting box area because most of the other hens pick on her. I have nine chickens ( I lost one in winter with a respiratory ailment, no vet was available), and they have a fairly large coop(6’x8’) and a penned in area. I free ranged them for quite awhile were they had the run of many acres but predators have killed many chickens in the area so they are now in an enclosed pen, which is quite large. Just not sure how to handle the hen that gets picked on by the other side and how to stop it, they aren’t drawing blood but she is not accepted by them at all. They were all purchased together and grew up together so I have no idea what to do and whether I should look into adding a rooster? Any thoughts?

Are you sure your picked on hen has not gone broody?
I dont see how adding a rooster would help the situation.
Give your hen obsticles or perches so she can evade or escape the others. There is always one who is at the bottom of the pecking order. Normaly no blood is drawn, except in cases of overcrouding due to boredom and confined space.
