Bumble Foot advice

Btw, I started out taping the vetwrap with surgical tape. Then I had to cut it off. It isn’t necessary. That stuff sticks very well. By itself. And I have a trick to unwrapping rather than cutting. You need to find the ends of the vetwrap to start. So here’s what I do.

the solid coloring lets me find the edge after it’s been muddied in the run. The lines show me which direction the strip runs. 😉

Good news everyone! My husband was able to remove both plugs this morning with his fingers and a pair of tweezers. Her feet look sparkly clean. We packed the spot with neosporin and wrapped again. Now the question: when should we check it to make sure there are no further problems? When do the bandages come off? My husband is a bit of a perfectionist, and every time we've gone through the whole procedure - soaking etc., it's taken at least an hour!

Also, has anyone been able to find 3/4" gauze on a roll, or otherwise? Our wrapping was small gauze with neosporin (or Prid when drawing out), then 2 layers gauze, then 2 layers of Vetwarp, then small strip of bandaid tape. But we couldn't find 3/4" gauze, and the stuff we had was falling apart after we cut it to size.

I don't know why I wasnt getting notifications for this thread!

I'm so glad it all worked! I may pick up some PRID for the next bumblefoot case I encounter.

I use gauze pads, or cotton balls in a pinch. I cut a small square, put that over the wound, and vet wrap over that. Never used tape or anything. The only time I had the bandages slip were on my duck's foot because webbing doesn't offer the hold toes do.
