Attempting to heal two bumble foot spots w this. I used the animal desktop essential oil book for my blends.

Anyone ever successfully use essential oil to heal it up? What was your protocol?

It can help, but it most likely won't heal it. You need to soak the foot or feet in warm water with plain Epsom salts for about 10 min, dry the foot, and then put medication on it and/or wrap it to keep it clean. If the infection ( bumblefoot ) has been left untreated for too long, you'll need to get a vet to surgically drain the infection and put medication on it and wrap it to keep it clean. However, you can also do it yourself. Can you send a picture of what it looks like?

For Early Developing:
1. Soak their feet with Epsom salts for about 10-15 minutes every day
2. Dry them thoroughly
3. put an antibiotic ointment on the wound
4. Wrap them with gauze or poultry wound wrap
5. Make sure they do not get their wounds dirty
You might have to change the wrap a few times a day. If they don't go away after less than 2 weeks, you'll need to surgically remove them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Surgically Removing:
What you'll need: scalpel, diluted iodine, wrap, and Epsom salts
1. Soak the feet for 15 min with Epsom salts
2. Put vetericyn on the wound
3. Press out all the puss
4. Wash out with diluted iodine solution
5. Put wrap over the incision
6. Apply vetericyn 2-3 times a day until healed

Trust me I've been dealing with bumblefoot from past 5 years and it recently healed in March completely . The thing i understand is tricky and i wasn't able to understand in all the years of struggle where i use many antibiotics, round of vitamins and what not ..
What i was doing is just Soak , Remove The Scab and wrap with cream what i wasn't doing is to Get inside of his footpad remove that Head of bumblefoot and get it out from its root
This happened in March 2022 when i started using an ayurvedic lip balm and it soften my Roosters scab and when accidentally my rooster jumped his footpad which alredy had soft scab become overlay swelled and his bumblefoot want to come out we soak him in warm water with added some Colloidal Silver 5 ML in a tub and soak it out

When i remove the scab it was huge hole 🕳️ and bleeding badly i pour some distilled water over his wound caught something that looks pale just like a seed of fresh sweetcorn That's The Root Of The Bumblefoot i find first time in years i grabbed my surgical pluckers and some Wooden Medical grade picks because here i use logic that if i put the plucker inside his open wound it will obviously bleed and become more deep
Medical grade wooden tooth picks are safe and they are also Pointy to catch the Bumblefoot Pus without going deep i just slightly prick that Hard Seed looking pus and pull it out from the wound it was looking like a Blackhead from our pimple.

And infect when we pulled out that blackhead from pimple our inflammation of acne gone and it healed that's the same thing happened with my Rooster

Happy Ending of bumblefoot:)

I read the causes are a cut from a roosting bar or just a scratch outside. Seems like theyd all have it then? Or their young immune systems can fight it off better than older girls? This one is an old girl we got as a present but she was pretty untended and her toenails were curvy and terrible. We trimmed them yest.

Today we did a 20 min soak in pink salt. Epsom salts.

Then i sprayed essential oils. Then wrapped.

Then made a mash of probiotics. Smashed garlic. Oatmeal. Vitamins. Oregano. Thyme.

Put her in the home hen hospital for recovery.

Is this a french moulting? Nobody else is molting. She is one of the OG original gurls and i wont cull her. I dont care if shes scraggly and old and doesnt lay regularly or ever.

Mainly she lays waterballoons or suuuuper thin shells w little calcium nubbins on the outside of her shells. Or none. But her eggs are huuuuuge.

I don't think it's from roosting issue . What i believe it's due to the issue of jumping running on surface that create this but god knows better what actually causes bumble
Some chickens have a great healing process my other rooster bumblefoot stayed small and it heals in no time and never returned even though when he keep jumping then yes immune system plays a role but not in all cases the one i treated almost years he is very healthy and immune (never fall sick) still he get it only in one foot .

And that pimple kinda boil near by finger is also a part of bumblefoot you have to pop it and clean it @staceyj told me many times that it started spreading when we notice small boil kinda stuff anywhere on foot

Try Vitamin A rich diet or suppliment of vitamin A
Vitamin A Helps if heal and recover the tissues
