1) What type of bird , age and weight. 5 week silkie

2) What is the behavior, exactly. Nothing out of the normal

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? I noticed 4 days ago

4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. small callous on one toe does not appear to have pus under may have a small scab but I am no expert.

5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Notihing that I know of no limping or change of behavior

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Starter, grit treats and whatever she finds in the covered run

7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. everything normal

8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? just washing every night with warm water

9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? treat myself

10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. included

11) Describe the housing/bedding in use. during the day outside in a cover run with coop at night inside on pine shaving.

This chicken has only been going outside during the day for 4 days now. If this is early bumble foot what should I do to fix it this early on. I tried google but have not seen it look like this or caught this early. I am not sure really if it is bumblefoot but it does concern me.
I have however noticed it is larger than it was 4 days ago.
She is acting and walk normal but I do not want this to turn into something worse.
Thanks for your time

looks like a pustule of some kind. I have never heard of bumblefoot in such a young bird! drain it, clean it, put some antibiotic ointment on it - and I'm sure it will clear up
good luck

looks like early stage of bumble foot... here's what to do:

use gloves to examine or treat birds suspected of having bumblefoot, because the staph or other bacteria that cause the abscess can infect humans. put the bird in a cage with clean, soft litter such as pine shavings. isolate the bird from other chickens because the bacteria could infect them too.in early stages, antibiotics maybe all that's needed. several registered antibiotics are available for chickens: lincomycin and amoxicillin are two common ones. many can be purchased at farm stores, or you can ask a vet where to get them. read and follow the label directions to determine the correct dosage and find out how to administer the antibiotics to birds. you must give antibiotics for full time the label directs.

Ok so the spot is not on a weight bearing toe, it is actually on the first or last depending on if you count left to right or right to left. Either way that is one of the toes silkies do not really bear any weight on. The extra ones. I have looked at it and today it seems maybe a tad bit larger. I soaked in epsom salt applied betadine soaked piece of cottonball and wrapped with vetwrap. And made sure nobody was paying it any attention to the vetwrap. She is still acting very normal. I have Duramycin-10 on hand if needed will this work? It is the only thing avaliable in the small town I live in. I stopped by the vet to maybe pick the other suggested meds but I will have to bring the chicken in to the vet to the good stuff. I can go to TSC and pick up other meds if it is determined that I do actually need meds. I am still worried about her but she appears to be in no pain I just want this cleared up so it does not turn into anything worse.
Thanks for all the help so far!
