Bumble foot question

I have been treating this with vetricyn with changes of bandage twice a day. Without any vets who treat chickens in a large radius, does anyone have a suggestion?

Does this look to be at the stage of surgery? Any suggestions/guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

How long have you been dealing with it? It is not too swollen but I think if you can soak the scab off with some warm water and epsom salts and see if you can get any pus out and get some medicine up into contact with the flesh it would heal faster. Good luck.

I had a hen with a similar sized one. I cleaned the area daily with diluted iodine solution and tried scraping out some of the scab. After I did this, I made a little sock using gauze. I cut 3 holes for each of the toes, wrapped the area in 2 sheets of gauze and then used medical tape to affix the "sock" to her leg further up. She healed up within a week or two and hasn't had trouble sense.

It's actually looking pretty good. You may try to pick the scab off and see if you can squeeze the kernel out if it is formed. It does go faster if you get it out. The first time is the hardest...after that you get pretty good at it. I took mine to the vet but now have learned to do it myself. Sometimes I get it out the first time ....sometimes it takes more than once.
