Bumble foot treatment

It's good stuff and those bumbles look pretty minor so just keep it clean and are you using the clear iodine.

They didn’t have the clear iodine at the store. Only regular brown iodine or the hibiclense, which I purchased and put on the foot after soaking. I have clean straw down in the run and am keeping her in the run for now where it’s a softer floor than our rocky muddy yard. I didn’t wrap it or anything, just kind of poured the hibicleanse over the bottom of the foot and then put her on the dry straw.

ok. Should I still try to find clear iodine? Or maybe use bacitracin? Or just keep soaking and pouring the habicleanse on? Thank you, by the way. I was just telling my husband that you’ve basically walked me through raising our ducks

That’s sweet of you! Okay wash her feet real good rinse then use the bacitracin or do you have any drawing salve like ithamol drawing salve?

I had never heard of drawing salve but now I’m going to look into it! Sounds like for these minor bumbles it may be just the thing. I’d soak, disinfect with the hibicleanse, apply ichthammol and wrap, right? Until, with any sort of luck, the bumble softens up and falls out? I really don’t want to have to go poking around in her foot if I don’t have to.

Yes TSC carries the ichthammol drawing salve. Wash dry and apply the salve then wrap so it stays on. Hopefully with the small bumble you'll be able to just peel the scab off with your finger nail after a few days.

That Nexcare waterproof tape pictured in link is just amazing for wrapping a duck foot. It makes it so much easier and is really durable yet easy to remove for next treatment. There is no substitute even close that I've found.

Awesome! Thank you so much for all the help and advice! She seems very happy today. Well... unhappy that I'm keeping her in the pen but... alas. I'll go out and try to find all these supplies a little later!
