Bumble foot

Ok yes I think she needs more treatment. Before you put the PRID on let her soak in warm water, with epsom salt if you can, for about 20 minutes and then peel off the scab. Then dab on the PRID with a Qtip and wrap. It might take a few treatments like that before you can clean it out. Change the dressing every 24 to 48 hours.

I fill my bathtub with a few inches of warm water and put the bird in there, then close the shower curtain and get everything ready to change the dressing. I do suggest you wear gloves when dealing with it, those germs are nothing to play with. Good luck!
Thank you! I will be sure to do that and update you :)

Hello! I did surgery on her feet on Friday and everything went well! They have scabbed over very nicely, instead of a nasty black one like last time it’s a redish normal looking scab. Also, her foot looks less red than in the picture I posted. Thank you guys for your tips!

Yay!! I hope she has a speedy recovery#

It sounds like maybe you didn't get the plugs out completely. It's hard to judge when there's blood. I did surgery on my roo and I'm using PRID, a drawing salve, on his foot right now. It can take a couple of weeks to heal and you should change the dressing every 48 hours minimum. Follow up after removing the plugs in a few days to treat the wound with a topical antibiotic that kills staph, it's the most common nasty found in bumble foot. A lot of people use vet wrap but I've found the foot to have better mobility when using the self adhering wrap that's narrow and for humans. Don't wad up the gauze either; cut off enough to cover the wound and immediate area in a thin layer. My roo is able to walk almost normal.
Can I soak her foot in an epsom bath every couple of days and just wrap her foot up after with some antibiotic ointment (Silvex or Polysporin)? Or does that black scab/plug need to be dug out?

The purpose of soaking the foot in warm epsom salt water is to soften the scab and draw up the infection. Then cut through the scab and forcefully squeeze out the infection or dig it out, whatever it takes.
That's the only way you're going to get the staph infection out. Or you can use Tricide Neo which is costly and time consuming.

You have to get the plug out or it won’t heal. Silvex works well in my experience. The easiest way to do surgery is with a towel over the head of the bird but not so close they can’t breathe, then lay her on her back on a counter with someone to hold her steady. She won’t fight a lot in that position. I found a punch biopsy tool and a scalpel helpful. Tweezers and a pair of gloves, there could be staph in there. Also the narrow self adhesive stuff similar to vet wrap works better than vet wrap. You can get it cheap at walmart and it’s about perfect width for wrapping afterward.

Also be sure you clean up the area before and after with a 10% bleach solution. If you get the plug out then all you’ll need to do is rewrap each day or every other day after washing and applying more Silvex.

also, I like to use hibiclens to wash the foot before I put more silvex on and wrap again.
