Thanks, @Miss Lydia ! I don't mean to hijack @keljo722 's thread, but I think my question is relevant. Just to confirm, so as we're soaking 2x/day in epsom salt baths but NOT cutting into the foot or getting the bumble out yet, it's okay not to wrap each time? Otherwise we're looking at a lot of bandaging materialI only wrap after getting the bumble out but yes I use antibiotic ointment and wrap till healed!
Soak only at this point no wrapping necessary until you open. Don’t think of cutting think of getting the scab off and using a sterile pair of tweezers to pick out the bumble. Hoping you won’t have to cut.
I have been able to remove half of both of her scabs. She is actually getting use to soaking and I’m not having to hold her there. So that makes a little easier. Soaking again right now and Hopi g to get some more pictures. We were not able to get into the vet yesterday. The soaks are going well. Today we're going to work on removing more of the scab after her morning soak and then bandaging it.
How about you?
Oh my goodness. :-( I'm just seeing this. We're so sorry. Was this surgery for the bumble foot?I hope everyone is doing well and that your Duck babies feet are getting better.
I just want to say thank you to all of you who have helped Lucky and I on our journey together.
Unfortunately Lucky passed away today after a successful surgery. As she was moved to recovery and the vet sat with her giving her loves to awake her up she suddenly stopped breathing. Her vet immediately started CPR with the help of her team. She had the tech reach out to me and ask if I wanted them to continue trying. I of course said yes.
15 minutes later I got another phone call this time from her vet. She was completely devastated... after trying everything they possibly could Lucky never came back. They have no idea why she just stopped breathing.
They were so amazing to me and my father when I went to pick up Scout. I’m so incredibly grateful for the clinic and all of you for your support and love. My heart is broken and it still doesn’t seem real. I’m gonna miss my Luck Duck. I’m praying for all of you and your duck babies.
Scout is doing well. She was happy to see her friends.. but having to be separated from them for a couple of days is probably going to be hard. So I’ll let them visit her during the day all they want even though she will have to stay in her little area.. they come and lay next to the gate with her.I’m sure they are missing our sassy Luck girl but I’m hoping they will be okay.
Thank you. @3bird Yes Lucky and Scout both had surgery for bumble foot. Scout is home with me and we just soaked her feet in chlorhexidine for the first time. I’m not sure how long to soak them for so I just did 5 minutes and let them dry. Gonna add some of my green goo add clean gauze a wrap them again. She has a check up tomorrow morning.Oh my goodness. :-( I'm just seeing this. We're so sorry. Was this surgery for the bumble foot?
She was very lucky to have all the love and care you gave her.
