Two of my chickens have spots on their feet. Is this bumblefoot? If so what is the best way for me to treat it? I will say if it is I think it’s early. They aren’t limping or showing signs it hurts I just checked their feet because of all the posts about common health issues and try to stay on top of things. But I am new to chicken care and haven’t seen bumblefoot in real life before nor know fully how to treat it. I read some and watched some videos but so many answers I chose to come here bc any time I’ve had an issue this group of people are who have the kindest and biggest help. I very much appreciate your time and advice if anyone has any. :)

They are very small. If you can feel hard spots in/around them then I would remove the soak the feet to soften the lesion, then remove it, clean it out well removing any pus (which will be firm and white or creamy colored and may stick to the healthy tissue), flush it out well with chlorhexidine or betadine, and then apply a triple antibiotic ointment and wrap to keep it clean and dry. Co wrap or vet wrap works well, don't wrap too tight. I would change the bandages daily until you know it's healing, reapplying the ointment each time. Once it's healing you can change every other or every third day as needed til it's completely healed. Link below with more thorough instructions. If it just feels flat, you can try to just treat topically the same way, to see if it resolves. If not, you can move to doing it as above. It can be a slow process, even for the smaller lesions, so patience and persistence.

Thank you so much. I ordered Betadine and vetercyn and wrap and prid. It should be here today. When I get them I’ll do the soak and see if I can get it out and medicate it and wrap like you said. Thanks so much

Great advice from @coach723! One product I have found that really works well to hold the vet wrap in pace and keeps dirt out is a thin foam based bandage type of tape called nexcare By 3m. It Is water proof and it will not come loose! Highly recommended! I have used it 3 or 4 times. You can find it on Amazon. Great product! 🙂

I looked this up. Paper tape! Genious! It would also help with the occassional splayed legs. I'd like to try it without the vetwrap once. Here's the link I found to it! I'm buying it! Thank you!

That isn`t the right tape the one I used is very thin foam kind of tan colored! Check Amazon again it`s on there! 🙂 I could see a use for this type of nexcare tape too! 😊
