I just read on a post a few weeks back about neo-tricide for koi fish that people have been using for bumblefoot and the vet is the one that prescribed it for them. I am going to order it online because to my knowledge noone locally will prob sell it. We are a very rural area and you have to travel an hour north or several hours south to find these sort of things.

I hope your girl is doing better but I would try to open the foot to hopefully see what is going on. Believe me I didn't want to do this on my girls feet but I had to or I figured they would get so bad they would die. It really isn't that hard. If you cover their heads they kind of go to sleep and then you are able to do what you have to do to help them.

I think that if this is Bumblefoot, then you may need something stronger than PenVK, because it is a staph infection and hard to get rid of with your typical anti.

I found nothing like pus or a plug in his foot. The large corn like projection i am assuming is a bumble, i cut into that and was not able to get anything out either. I contemplated lancing it right off, but i am not sure what that would do?! He has had 2 shot of Pen. i have dosed on the heavy side. Great idea on the eggs & yogurt, will have to whip him up some! I will redress the foot today and see what it looks like now.... oh the things we do for our pets!!!!!!!

I tell you RIGHT NOW from experience that no oral antibiotic will totally kill these infections, especially after they get so far. I tried two weeks of Amoxicillin at 500 mg a day, two weeks of Terramycin, and four days of 1/2 cc TYLAN 50, for goodness sakes! Don't waste your time or money, and don't risk making staph more resistant to antibiotics! The Tricide-Neo uses plain ol' Neosporin plus some super awesome ingredients that PUNCH HOLES in the bacteria's cell walls so the Neosporin can get in! Of course, you have to order it off the Internet because the University of Georgia seems to be the only manufacturer.

I just posted on the original thread about Tricide-Neo about how it has cured one of my girls so far. With the shoes, a case like this might take five or so soakings once every other day. If i would have known about this earlier I could have avoided the oral antibiotics altogether, but I'm happy my mistakes should die once these chickens are healed!
