We have a year old Maran hen who started walking funny a few weeks ago (picks her left foot up in front of her really far as if she has something stuck on her foot she is trying to shake off) and we can't seem to figure out the cause.
We've looked at the foot and one of the pads on her toe is very slightly swollen but there doesn't seem to be any cut or puncture or discoloration or sore like with bumblefoot. At first we just thought maybe the rooster was overly-aggressive (this is his favorite hen) and maybe she just needed a break. We've separated the rooster out for several weeks and she hasn't gotten any better (or any worse).
I'm at a loss of what to do here. She doesn't seem to be having any other issues. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is this bumblefoot? I'm not sure what to do but we're going to try soaking for a bit to see if it makes any difference.
