Hi, I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but a while back my duck, Warrior, got Bumblefoot for the first time.
I managed to cure her and for a few months she was Bumblefoot free- until now.
She is disabled and walks on her feet the wrong way, wearing them down and irritating her skin, so I believe that she is now prone to Bumblefoot.
I decided to try and treat them the way I did before, epsom salt soak, surgery, neosporin, bandage.
I soaked her feet for 10 minutes tonight, then did surgery on her right foot. I'm going to try and cure her left without cutting into it.
However, unlike last time, I found virtually nothing inside her foot. No cheese substance, no plug, no puss, but a whole lot of blood.
I bandaged them with Neosporin, but now I'm kinda freaking out.
I feel as if I've done more harm than good opening her wound. She was acting fine before I cut into them, no limping, no visible pain or discomfort. Is it possible that it was just a black scab... on both feet? With swelling? I don't know.. I kinda need some reassurance. Have I done the right thing? I didn't want to leave it too late, but I think I may have cut too early, and it didn't develop yet.
I feel so guilty and my little duck is scared of me now
I keep saying it was for her own good.. But it's still so hard to do.
