Yes if you’ve been doing the soaks for a while now right after soaks is a good time the scab should be soft and poultry pus isn’t runny it’s thick.

Oh, yes. After a few Epsom salt baths, the core usually softens up pretty good. If you have a second helper that would be great. I wrap mine with a towel and gently pull the scab off with a pair of tweezers. Wrap the bottom with some bandage and keep her in a nice clean environment to prevent it from getting infected again.

I’d also slather some antibiotic ointment over before wrapping. Let us know how it goes.

I take the bandage off occasionally to make sure its healing correctly, or most of the time they take it off for me
