And the final post for this thread, I hope that the steps taken and the photos are helpful. So I took a look at her foot yesterday 10.1.17 and the below is what it looked like. Satisfied with the healing I decided to leave it alone and not wrap it anymore as it is basically 100% healed. I will continue to monitor her foot and my other hens on a weekly basis for a general health check - as with chickens prevention is the best line of defense!
Had some problems with the Wynadottes I had, now I have BOs so I make sure I keep their enclosure cushioned with alot more shavings. Just wondering if genetics play a part in the occurrence?
You know, I had heard that some of the larger breeds have problems with it.. My Barred Rock Madame Currie that had bumble foot is 8 pounds, so I wonder if it is genetics as well. I have my girls on sand, so I have added extra to underneath her roost. I also have heard that the perches should be no higher than 18" and some of mine are 20-24" so I may look into lowering those too.
