Hello, my little hen Rosy has been limping, she has a hard scab on her foot and a tiny scab on the other foot smaller than top of a match, i have tried to squeeze remove the scab but its stuck fast and she is too stressed, Rosy is a rescue hen so I am worried she will get too stressed if I am too rough, I am a nurse so I have Used a dressing called Aquacel Ag, it has the ability to kill a broad spectrum of wound-related microbes in the dressing, it's has a Rapid and effective antimicrobial action, Controlled release of ionic silver as wound exudate is absorbed into the dressing, Sustained antimicrobial activity for up to 14 days, I am changing the dressings every 4 to 5 days in the hope that the Aquacel will draw out the infection and soften the scab so I can pick it out, she is not limping as much when she wears the dressings and tolerates them well, I also soak her feet in warm water and Epsom salts, I would like some advice please if there is anything else I can do, I will be contacting my vet Monday to ask for a course of antibiotics as there is also a little swelling and hardness under the scab compared to the other foot which is soft and normal however I think there was a little improvement on 2nd dressing but I'll know more on 3rd dressing on Monday, I'm going to take photographs also to track any small improvement as I can zoom in on scab, thanks in advance, I have attached a photograph of the affected foot. See how she is still growing back her feathers poor little hen she doesn't need anymore suffering. I think the bumblefoot is quite advanced so she must have had it before I rescued her, I have her about 8 weeks.

If I were tackling this, I'd soak the foot in warm epsom salts for about 30 minutes then try to pull the scab and core off. If it didn't come off, I'd apply a liberal amount of drawing salve like Prid then bandage the foot again.
Repeat the soaking again the next day and remove the scab. Then try to squeeze out the hardened pus core and apply your Ag treatment and bandage until the wound closes up.

My sweet Cochin hen Miss Annelle gets Bumble foot every summer. I have had success in treating it with using Tricide-Neo. I purchase it online from Koi Acres. One 22 gram package per one gallon of distilled water. Distilled water is a must! I just add the powder to the gallon jug and mix well. I Fill a small container with just enough of the mixture to the cover her feet and soak for 10 minutes. I then dry her off and follow with a spray of Vetericyn Poultry spray to the affected spot. I do not bandage her feet. It clears up in 2-3 weeks. For us, it works well. Good luck. Hope Rosy feels better soon!

Hi Dobielover thanks so much for your advice, what is prid drawing salve ??
Just a specific brand of drawing salve. Any good quality drawing salve will due. You can likely find something at your local pharmacy or farm store.
As @Cochin Love, states, another excellent option is Tricide-neo. That is a drug marketed to large ornamental fish but works well at curing bumblefoot.
