If I were tackling this, I'd soak the foot in warm epsom salts for about 30 minutes then try to pull the scab and core off. If it didn't come off, I'd apply a liberal amount of drawing salve like Prid then bandage the foot again.
Repeat the soaking again the next day and remove the scab. Then try to squeeze out the hardened pus core and apply your Ag treatment and bandage until the wound closes up.
It comes in a little orange hockey puck shaped containter. It is available at Walmart or any pharmacy. It really works. I agree with the above advice. It works. The warmer the water the better. Be sure to give her a treat before an after every treatment. My hen seems to enjoy it. Swaddle her in a hand towel so she can't flap around. that helps. This treatment described above does work. No need for cutting, except you could lift the edges of the scab which will help get the medicine in and begin the process of the scab and core coming out. You have to grasp it pretty firmly to pull it out. The one which is still soft may resolve itself without pulling it out. It won't be ready to pull out out until it feels hard. Don't put off the treatment on the big one. It can become serious. It is a staph infection. An injectible amoxilln would help.Good lock.Sorry meant to ask Dobielover about the salve
She always looks pissed off lol no she probably be a lot happier if her foot wasn't sore, I'm sure she's in pain poor little henShe looks pretty pissed off in that picture.![]()

Cant get the tricide neo shipped to Ireland so had to get the clear iodine unfortunately, I'll give that a go and get her some antibiotics, also got Dac bumblefoot cream and Vetericyn Poultry spray so I'll let ye all know how it goes. Thanks againMy sweet Cochin hen Miss Annelle gets Bumble foot every summer. I have had success in treating it with using Tricide-Neo. I purchase it online from Koi Acres. One 22 gram package per one gallon of distilled water. Distilled water is a must! I just add the powder to the gallon jug and mix well. I Fill a small container with just enough of the mixture to the cover her feet and soak for 10 minutes. I then dry her off and follow with a spray of Vetericyn Poultry spray to the affected spot. I do not bandage her feet. It clears up in 2-3 weeks. For us, it works well. Good luck. Hope Rosy feels better soon!
Hi Dobielover thanks so much for your advice, what is prid drawing salve ??
Thank you I got the scab out, came out after I removed the aquacel dressing so looking good, just waiting for the Vetericyn spray to come in the post, I'll try spraying it with that and see if it works if not I'll get the prid, thanks so much for replying.Smiles Prid Drawing salve is what we used. We soaked the foot in epsom salt, put the Smiles Prid on it and wrapped it up. After two days, it pulled right out. You can get Smiles Prid on amazon.
