Recently we discovered one of our hens had bumblefoot, it wasnt terrible but it was definitely noticeable. after that, we noticed a mild case on one of our older hens. i just checked the rest of the flock, and they all have it. theres not really any swelling, or redness, just small black scabs. i clean their roost bar about every week and change out their bedding, so im not sure what caused it. does any body have any tips or what to do? i've done quite a bit of research but most cites i read include treatment for severe cases, whereas ours are pretty mild.

There is likely something in their environment causing a scratch or wound on their footpad. It could be a nail, wire, piece of metal or something else scratching the foot.
For mild cases, warm Epsom salt soaks followed by wrapping the foot help.

You can sand down all the roosts to eliminate burrs and splinters, just a couple of swipes with sandpaper will do it. Consider lowering roosts as well.
There's no need to do bumblefoot surgery unless there is redness and swelling, or if a bird is limping.
Without any of those, the scabs eventually disappear on their own.
