(My chicks are only three weeks old)
Is their another way to cure the bumblefoot then cutting it out? That scares me a lot. If it is not cut out what happens? What causes bumblefoot? Is there anyway to prevent it? Is it more common in younger birds or older? If you have any other info please let me know!
Thanks!

There are a couple of threads regarding bumblefoot on here. One of them does not involve cutting, but rather soaking in an antibiotic solution. I think it depends on how bad the bumble is. Bumblefoot can occur at any time/age. Since the chickens walk on the ground and jump up on and down from their perches any number of things could cause a break in the skin and from there it gets infected and forms a kernel (the bumble). If it is not an advanced case the use of tricide neo powder may work. It is an antibiotic fish dip and pondrx.com has the best price. Please read the threads and make your own assessment. The tricide neo did not work for my girl and I wound up having to perform the surgery. Good luck.
