I have a rooster who seems to have a swollen toe with a brownish scab on the end of it. I have read some about bumblefoot, but I still don't know if it can form on a toe. Does that sound like bumblefoot?

It can be anywhere on the foot where there was an opening like a wound.
The toe is on the foot.

It sounds like bumblefoot. It's a staph infection that will spread up his leg. It's very serious and he needs to be on antibiotics. Good luck.

Research combiotic. It is broad spectrum and needs to be injected into the wound after it is cleaned. Difficult to cure.

Terramycin soluable in the water for a week. Bacitracin ointment on the bumblefoot wound itself worked for me. I hope this helps.
Keeping in mind the bumblefoot nodule was removed from my hens toe itself. It left quite a little excavation hole in her toe.
I'm still applying the bacitracin ointment once weekly and will continue to do so until all evidence of the bumblefoot in Liza's toe is no longer visible. Her toe looks almost exactly like normal :)

Thank you all for your help. I was able to do surgical procedure on bumblefoot for my first time, and it worked wonderful. I have him on combiotic. I will continue to keep an eye on his toe.
