Bumblefoot-please explain

I am a novice to ducks and have only had them for a little over a year-so far so good. But the talk on their feet and what they should walk on, I keep my on grass when there is some and dirt and never had a problem. The Muscovy's at the pound are on concrete and I was wondering how long it takes for it to start and what signs to look for and a path of treatment?
