Bumblefoot Prevention - Is there a way?

I don't think bumblefoot is from the type of staff from the soil. I think it is one that is in the body. How would you explain birds from overseas having it (that we send to each other; not fly over there by themselves)? After 3 months over there and 3 months over here been in quarantine? You think they don't clean exhibits in every inch for "dirt"?

Nah; we don't have pink-eye. For real. It's just not HERE. Not in the population. It's just simple. Different isles over the world have different spreadable "diceases".

And it is ALL no shame.

Noy sure how my English skills are relevant to your experiences; and no; it has nothing to do with weight. The ones I have ever known (ever!) where light pidgeons and light chickens. It's not a weight or soil thing. I'm 100% sure my allways-wet soil is way more ready for bacteria.. it's a perfect soil-country for bacteria!

Mark my words; it's the stass type that's just passed on by blood. Does not matter. Just like a herpes-mouth-sore; it's annoying. But you can be fine humans/ducks/chicken.

Unless someone is open to do something grans with mutliple breeders; importing ducks/chicken from other countries; and start a whole new line; and try to keep that healthy without inbreeding.. anyone got a few 10000 dollars left?

You do have Conjunctivitis (pink eye) in the Netherlands. Also "mouth Herpes" as you called it, is Herpes Simplex 1 and is caught from someone carrying the virus. Once you have the virus you are a carrier and it can lay dormant.

What is so hard to understand that pink-eye herpes strain is NOT here. Yes; some person has it. But noone EVER heard of someone having it. It's not common. It's really uncommon. We are all loose land-parts and our own communities where certain stuff is more common; certain stuff not. That is why perticular islands; have strict regulations.

I don't care whcih humans/chicken/ducks have what dicease or not and let alone I think they are worse then others.

I just said; after being here for a long time, and European forums; we don't have bumblefoot; you have a lot. We have the same amount of bumblefoot as pink-eye aparently. That means it is somehow something that "cathes on". If that is heritary (which herpes is not) is, but we don't know; a thing to think about when breeding chickens/ducks/pidgeons.

We can test it? If anyone is willing. It will take 6 months (incubation 3 months over here, 3 months over there) and will cost money. Loads. Split. But I can supply ducks/chicken/pidegons that for generations never had bumblefoot. Like 500+ years. If they get it; maybe it is something that is catching on; or something in the ground.. if it is not; good to breed with.

Don't really understand this conversation. Just thinking about future animals. No pride. We all want them to be the healthiest breed don't we? That would be easier for them; and us; when less diceases?

It's interesting in human populations the pathology of a disease can be very different from one location to another. Sure you may not have bumble foot in your part of the world but I bet if they get shipped to the US they will get it.

Actually, not necessarily. Maybe in other parts of the world the fowl have developed some sort of hereditary resistance to bumblefoot... it's hard to say.

Yes it's hard to say, that was my point. When duck A gets sick and duck B does not people immediately say it was genetics. Well it could be but it could be other factors, in this case I think it's unlikely that every bird over there is completely resistant to bumblefoot. You can only become resistant to a problem and apparently it does not happen in that country.
