Bumblefoot with NO lesion??

I have 9yr old silie x isa-brown with what looks like bumblefoot- one foot is very swollen, and hot too the touch- but there is no visible wound or even a scab. She is in enough pain that she has not left the coop today, so I think it's too far gone, and will be best treated with antibiotics- however, would it help to soak the foot in chlorhexidine even though there is no wound?
I've been unable to get into a vet, but will keep trying.

Since the bird is 9 years old, I suspect gout. If that's the case, not much can be done. You can give Ibuprofen for the pain if you wish, 1/4 tablet orally once a day.
