bumblefoot?

Thanks Wyorp... I'm curious to understand why no one uses iodine to clean and treat? In addition to the Vetricyn, of course....
Are you talking about Povidone Iodine or Iodine tincture?
You can use either to clean with if you wish.

Betadine (Povidone Iodine) is often mentioned here on the thread to use for wounds, soaking of feet, etc.

Yes... I was going to clean it with the Providone iodine and then follow up with the Vetericyn.

Also, I have this spray bandage that I use on my horses whenever they get cuts in weird places that don't bandage well... Has anyone ever used it for bumblefoot? 20200501_122740.jpg

I'm not familiar with the Alushield.

Cleaning/soaking in the Betadine is fine.
Coban/Vet/Sports wrap works really well for wrapping feet/legs - do you have any of that? I usually have the wide rolls on hand, but cut it in half or thirds to get size strips I need

I do have vet wraps which is what I was using... The only issue I have with them is that they soak up all kinds of dirt and nastiness. When I cut the last bandage off, it smelled and looked foul. I thought maybe the Alushield would provide a cleaner bandage that would resist poo and dirt a little better than the traditional bandage... That was my only reason for asking if anyone has ever tried it.

I've kept her in a dog crate in the garage since the surgery last night. I cut the vet wrap off this evening... The hole looks completely filled in and I couldn't see any scab? However her foot is still red between her toes and swollen. I washed it, put iodine on it and more neosporin. Then I sprayed it with the Alushield and put her back in the crate for another night with clean newspaper. I will check it again tomorrow morning... I just want the swelling to go down some before releasing her back in the coop

So the big red hen has been in the dog crate for 2 days since we did the bumblefoot surgery. The bottom of her foot is looking much better but the swelling still hasn't gone down any...

Suggestions on what I should do next? Or is it just going to take more time? Here's the pictures of the top and bottom of her foot... Should I be concerned about the black spots around her foot? This picture was taken after soaking her foot for about 10 minutes and doing our nightly cleaning.

Just wanted to add that she seems generally healthy except for the the bad foot. She's eating, drinking, and laying while caged... She does keep picking that foot up repeatedly so I know it is hurting her.
