bumblefoot

i have a hen that has bumblefoot but my mom is worried that the infection could spread to us or other chickens. i’m not really sure what to do. she said that staph is bad and that we don’t need to come in contact with it. i don’t think we have an avain vet around either but i’m not sure. also this hen honks instead of clucks but i’m not sure if that’s anything or if it is a respiratory problem. please help. i don’t know what to do. thanks

You can wear gloves, mask and eye protection. Also, use a topical antibiotic that kills staph, Silvex is available at walmart. Wash hands well afterward and sanitize surfaces with bleach water.
