Hi Guys! This week I noticed my hen Raptor’s foot had been swollen. I didn’t think it was anything until today. She doesn’t have scabs on black marks on her foot and is walking fine. She has two big blister looking things in between her toes. Help would be great!

Bumblefoot can sometimes be between the toes on top of the foot. There are also scaly leg mites visible. Those may be treated with vaseline applied to the legs and rubbed into the scales 1-2 times a week. Here is some info on the different trearments for bumblefoot:

So we ended up having to do the surgical way because we definitely couldn’t get it out without tools. So once we removed everything, we bandaged her and separated her. So is that top bump and swelling between her toes supposed to go away by itself? And is the pad on her foot supposed to flatten out as well once you remove the gunk? Any help would be great!

The swelling should all eventually go down if you got the kernel of hardened pus. Sometimes on the top of the foot, it may be more liquified. Change the dressing on the foot every couple of days as needed.

I have two of my flock who seem to be more prone to this. Each time I've had to do surgery, the swelling goes down with time and regular changing of bandages. It's a long process. Weeks, sometimes months pass before it's all gone and healed. Sometimes I have to go in again because I failed to get the infection out the first go. I. Hate. Bumblefoot.

I now check feet very frequently. I've also changed roost height and coop and run materials in case those things were contributing. Surgery is no fun for the chickens... or for me.

Hi guys! So I was checking the chickens tonight and one of my pullets had a tiny scab on the bottom of her foot that looked like bumble foot. What should I do for the early stages? Just remove the scab and wrap it? Thanks so much!
