Well she’s not an avian vet. She a vet that is not far from me and was willing to help me out as best as possible. I actually backed out of an appointed surgery day that she was going to go in and see what’s what this past week. I had found more info couple days before about someone who looked like they were having similar issues my duck was having which they said was Bumblefoot and she posted what she did. I thought I could try to fix it myself. In the beginning my vet did drain a little fluid out of the scab area but her ankle was not swollen like it is now. There is usually a kernel [a hard pus ball] or just thick pus once it is open. Not being there makes it hard for us to tell you what your dealing with. Mostly on my chickens there is a scab I gently pull it off and sometimes the bumble will come off with the scab and sometimes I have to work on it to get the thick pus out. With my duck she had a hard round kernel in her foot no scab so I had to take a scalpel and make a small slit and pop it out. Since it looks like there could be an infection in the ankle area I would be hesitant to open it up. What has the vet said about the ankle? That was the reason I mentioned Baytril because it might get to the ankle area. What about drawing some of the fluid out and trying to find out exactly what bacteria it is? Did the vet mention this?
