Greetings. We have a two year old hen, she’s a salmon faverolle. She has bumblefoot in both feet. She had a bout of it last year that resolved pretty quickly. This time the issue seems much deeper. I am very hesitant to make an incision into either foot with a scalpel. We have been soaking her feet in epsom salt warm water for about 20-30 minutes and then tending to her feet. We have been soaking her feet for weeks. We had been doing it daily and lately have had difficulty doing daily soaks. I believe there is still some infection in each foot but I am not certain. When I remove the scabs that form on her pads there is a small amount of oozing that may be pus or it may be some other fluids related to recovery. I don’t know how to differentiate between the two. Her feet both look better but there is some thickness in each foot, some hardness under the skin that may still be infected. If you have some insights to share or links to info you’ve found helpful please let me know. I have dug the plug out of each foot several times. I haven’t been digging it fully out lately. Perhaps I need to.
