I have noticed lately that my birds have been stomping their roost at night. I looked with a flashlight and noticed there are mosquitos in the air. Or is it mites?
If it is mites, what is the best way to treat it? Also, if they have mites would they still be laying?

Mites do not fly. So if the pests are flying, mosquitoes are likely. You need to clean out the coop and bedding material and thoroughly spray with a long-acting pesticide with an insect growth regulator. Replace the bedding, mixing sevin or permethrin dust into the bedding material. Then, nightly, spray the coop with a repellant or pesticide safe for animal premises. Consider using a timed spray such as Country Vet.

Both mosquitoes and red mites can cause the "foot stomping" syndrome. Head shaking and twitching is also indicative of mosquitoe problems. SonoranSilkies gives good advice above.
