HI @rjohns39 and thanks! Our friend raised a heritage turkey last year (can't recall the breed) and wants to do the same again, so we thought, why not?!

She got it too early in the season so by the time Thanksgiving rolled around it was 50 lbs. They had to cut it in half it was so big. But said it was the best turkey she and her family had ever had.

So we're looking at late summer and I have a lot to learn between now and then so will definitely be stopping by the turkey forums!

BB's take about 14 weeks to market weight and heritage 24. I start mine on a 24% protein starter for 3-4 weeks and then 18% grower until they are 8 weeks or longer depending on the flock. I keep them in a shelter until they are at least 8 weeks old and then let them free range.
