Buried egg shells

One of my friends has three hens that are laying and she said she finds egg shells buried in the dirt in there coop. Are her chickens eating there eggs?

That could be, i have an egg eating problem right now and i will find egg shells in the coop and around in their fenced in area!!! It could have been that an egg got stepped on and they ate it, but once they get the taste of raw eggs they will often want more!!! You can fix the problem by putting golf balls in their coop for them to peck at and when they get nothing from it they might lose interest in the eggs!
