Burning

First sorry about your health issues, I think it will be hard to prove that it is only from neighbors.

Now the real issue, you had thier Illegal wood lot shut down, I assume after which they were told to clean up the place. Now they are cleaning up the place in a legal fashion according to your post. I will take thier side on this one and say that in a round about way you brought this on yourself, just going by what you have posted (I could not view the video). Did you try to speak to them proir to calling the police?? Have you spoke to them since having the site shut down?? You made thier life miserable by stopping thier income (selling split wood) so they have decided to return the favour. The golden rule works in both directions.

Really the county shut them down because of zoning. This was not the first time this has happened to them. They were in another spot and were shut down for the wood lot and burning. What they are burning is not "wood" it is the damp, moldy wood chips. They have no septic and can not get one because the land will not "perk". When it rains the feces runs down the road and into all the neighbors yards. We all have wells and are worried about them. They are not people you can work with. She told the news caster if we didn't like what she was doing she would put a hog lot in and stink us all out. They had one before and the humane society came out because they were not feeding them. The land is considered unbuildable because it is solid rock. They live in campers and have their wiring on the groung and running through the trees. It is spliced together with duck tape. If they would have come to us and told us what they wanted to do we probably would have worked with them. Now they are burning 3, 4 and 5 fires at a time right next to our property line.

I took that to mean that YOU got them shut down. Is there not zoning against allowing raw septic to be released(I would have to assume yes since you have perk testing), I can see living in campers as long as septic is taken care of properly, I would call out health department to investigate raw sewage. Why didnt the zoning personel that shut them down enforce or pass the bad wiring/septic to proper authorities??

It has been a big mess. They are still there due to incompitence. I think they are some how related to the building inspector. The electric company said they can do nothing because their responsibility stops at the meter. Ground water said that they can do nothing unless they see the feces on the ground. Funny the only time they come out is after a rain when everything has washed away. It always goes back to the building inspector. She is a piece of work. Her father was inspector befor her. It is an appointed post. We are finally going to court soon. They have been served. Now we just wait and see. I swear if I have one more animal dies due to respitory problems I may go off.

Documentation is needed! Get out the camera and video camera! Get the evidence of the illegal septic system. Make sure you include wide shots so the lot is identifable and then zoom in.

I hope you get this resolved soon! Good luck!

wow.

I don't know anything about country living in the south or midwest. The particular area in question seems extremely rural and quite under developed.

Where I'm from in Massachusetts, those people whould have accumulated hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. You may live in a rural area, but its still not the Congo or 1463 AD. Human feces running freely down the road is unacceptable.

If the county wants to drag its feet while these serious health and safty violations continue, maybe you need to start throwing the F word around. Start talking openly about contacting state and federal departments to have the matter resolved before you and your neighbors die of bubonic plague. I bet your county officials might get a move on if that sort of talk starts circulating.

After seeing the video, i would think calling the police should be an option. They have already lost the case for being re-zoned. So they are violating all the orders. I would also be buggin the board of health on a regular basis as king said. We have a neighbor with a failed septic and have been living with that stink since last winters snow melted. The board of health keeps failking the plans for the new septic.....they did just finally pass the most recent so we do have hope. I hope you can get it taken care of.
