I apparently put one of the feeders/waterers too close to my heat lamp a couple of weeks ago. One of my marans burned the back of his neck on the lamp. The scab is gone now and it looks real good, except for the fact he looks like a NN. Does anyone know if his feathers will grow back? I will try to post a pic, but may not be able to for a few days. Thanks in advance!

I've never dealt with a burned chicken before, just feather picked. We have 2 Polish and one of them got her head feathers picked out a lot by our older set of chickens when we introduced her and some others to the older set. Her head feathers grew back just fine. Don't know if that helps you though since it wasn't burned.

At least in that instance with missing feathers, they grew back.

It should come back eventually. Just takes time. The scab might be a scab and bare for a while, but often does regenerate feather follicles.
