Sponsored Post Busting Wintertime Flock Boredom

Thank you so much this will help big time.

A toy & treat that our chickens love is either an apple, ear of corn, or cabbage head, attached to a string and dangled at chicken head height. They will gather around and peck at it, and it's a chicken tetherball match! It's hilarious to watch, and gives them something to do. We only give them those on special days, like Holidays throughout the winter...that way the novelty doesn't wear off. Peanuts in the shell are another fun item..they peck and chase them as the peanuts roll around, til they finally get them open.

Why not let them free range?
On a small suburban lot, with raccoon, fox, and hawks lurking around, plus a zoning ordinance that prohibits poultry "at large", free range is out of the question for us. Have to think of different ways to keep the girls active in a 40 sf area. A handful of oats mixed it up on the ground can keep them busy for hours, too.
