Whew! Hubby has been workin hard to prepare a nice, warm home for our mottleds coming in two weeks. This is a duplex so the other side can be for our silver laced. There will be runs underneath and to the side. ...and just in time for the next contest

We got a great score of barnwood and corrugated sheeting as well as some old windows. Even the pressure treated posts were leftovers from a jobsite so great news for us...cause we broke

And here is our newest edition. Momma picked a fine time to go broody:) but with all her fluff, Im confident in her abilities. One hatched, one zipped and four more on the way.

And we're anticipating a staggered hatch... I just kept putting eggs under her

so we got the hatch-o-matic done last night cause Im sure she'll bail from the nest in a day or two.

What a weekend...now we can get back to watching Sci-fi ordering some pizza!

I like using barnwood cause you don't have to paint it. Check craigslist, flea markets, yard sales, freecycle.com, and just look around for windows. If you see some laying around, chances are the property owners would love for you to take them. Rusty and I have gotten so much stuff just by asking politely. All of our materials for this coop were gained that way. Good Luck!

I got everything for the coop I'm building now (except window

) from neighbors cleaning out their storage building and leftovers from my other coop. I got some shingles from the old guy next door that built a doghouse. (who needs 6 boxes of shingles for a Beagle's dog house!)
