Glad it was just a toad for you! I was most likely a toad, but on rare ocasion I have had a frog by the garden! Frogs have a longer looking head shape then toads do!(If that makes sense!)
I was pulling weeds when I also grabbed a toad. I flung it about half a mile before I realized it was a toad! So a little later I saw some movement in the weed and thought another toad no be deal! I was pulling away when I reached in and pulled some weeds and a snake this time! It scared the crap out of me. I didn't fling it, but dropped it and the hunk of weeds and was running and screaming like a little kid!! It was rather amusing to DH!! The snake was harmless, but still I hate critters when they surprise me like that, I'm ok if I see them first!

I know what you mean about being OK if you see them first.... I sprayed a spider who was living next to the back door... When I went to put my boots on later, I thought to myself I should check them in case the spider ended up in one of them...but I didnt check. A few minutes later I felt something in my boot...and sure enough it was the spider...definitely dead...but i just shook it out...not a bother at all....I knew it may have been in there anyway and it didnt bother me in the least. Knowing it was dead was a big part of that though.

Yeah, frogs hibernate in the soil. Hopefully it got back underground before it got too cold and it froze to death.

It wouldnt have frozen....I live in Australia.... So its summer here at the moment. I was worried about it getting to hot or drying out !

i would flip out if i saw a snake. i HATE snakes. they terrify me. as well as spiders. any kind of spider or snake and i am booking it. lol. ewwwwwwwwwww

i used to work at a clothing store and someone took their snake in and i ran to the back. i was scared. then this other time my friend and i went to the reptile store and they took out a teranchula (i can't spell sorry) and i ran out of the store.

They hide underground during the day, which is kinda sad actually, imagine how many have been concreted over when building and roads are constructed.

I wouldnt have been so worried about it if I lived in Qld and thought it was a cane toad though
