Hi everyone. I put 20 muscovy eggs in my incubator. They are on day 10 and all but 2 are developing ( as far as I can tell as a first timer, I see lots of veining the other 2 were clear) Well I have been searching on here for information about incubating Muscovy eggs and it seems to be a common thing that they are difficult to do. SO I am looking for other peoples experiences. I would like to know what went wrong for others who have tried(or what went right). I figure I could try to learn from other peoples experiences. I f you are somebody who has had a hard time hatching them I would like to know when things went wrong? Early on? During the hatch?
Also if you had success hatching them, let me know because I feel a little discouraged about all the poor results people seem to have.
I just feel like the more info I have the better chance I have at success!

It takes 35 days for them to hatch. They are almost impossible to hatch in an incubator. I always hatched them under ducks or chickens.

Mine came from a commercial hatchery, so they can't be impossible. What makes them so difficult to hatch? When do the problems start, right from the beginning? I have 18 left of 20 on day 14 and they seem to be doing great. Lots of veins and I can see the little embryos swimming around, Maybe its luck, if so I hope it continues. Thanks for your replies

Just the opposite for me, maybe it was living down south with high humidity..I dont know. I had a hard time hatching much other than muscovy eggs in my incubator. With the muscovy i always had a high or 100% hatch rate. I kept my temps around 100.5 for the 1st 2 weeks, then dropped it down to 100 for the rest. When i opened to turn (4x) a day, i used a fine misting bottle & gave them a misting .
As for anything else..even with slightly different temps & skipping the misting, i might be lucky to hatch 1/4 of a full incubator..go figure

I have 17 in the incubator right now. I tried 13 earlier this year and all 13 failed (nearly all were fertile, they just died at different stages..) It was very frustrating. I have a muscovy right now that's almost ready to begin setting. I have some chicken eggs for her, but now I'm thinking I'll put those in the incubator (?) and take out half of the duck eggs in the incubator and put them under her and see what happens...
(The muscovy eggs I'm incubating are from a neighbor, I don't have a drake, otherwise I would have of course just let her sit on her own eggs)

I was able to hatch once Muscovie mules (Pekin Drake and Muscovie hen) in my bator.

They are quackless ducks, grow fast and make the best meat duck on the planet according to many.
