Our 2 year old BBB hen is slowing down quite a bit. These birds age fast and we have decided to put her down.
Is there a best way to process her ie roast, soup, pressure can? I would prefer to cook her in the oven. We have extra large pans for our BBB and large cooking bags. I haven’t cooked one that was this old before and was wondering if she would be tough. I call her grandma, because she is always moving around the yard to find a sunny spot. She has slowed down from the rest of the birds. Not sure if she is laying, but I don’t think she got bred.
I did pressure can a big bird last year when a coyote took her after she left her nest. My dog caught up, but the coyote had already killed her and dragged her about 400 yds. We made dog food, but it was very tender.
