Butchering/gut photos

So you cut the heads off, and being brainless you are sure they are dead?

Not quite. I'm sure the brain is dead because it has no body. Because the brain is the part that can feel pain or be scared, that's the part that needs to be dead (or at least separated) before I start plucking and gutting the body.
 
So now that we are talking about Meriks disease. I have 4 chickens, they are in contact with no others. The nearest other chicken is oh god... maybe a block away at a farm? Is this something that can blow in and get them? Do I need to worry about my Cockatoo getting it as well if it did show up?

Do worry so much about the neighbor's birds.
Just never bring home any adult birds and you should be ok.
Are your current birds vaccinated for Marek's?
when you bought them did you ask for the vaccine?
 
Really? That’s strange. Could you take a picture/s next time you butcher one?
That may not happen until next fall. I have one extra tom right now but the neighbor is supposed to come get him to use as a breeder.
