Butlers, A&M, Jumbo Pharoh???

I'm not so worried about the noise anymore. My neighbors just asked my husband if we could raise them a couple meat birds. So I guess they don't mind us having chickens too much. I'm sure they won't mind a couple quail.

I would do butler bobwhitesnor the Texas a&ms. I have both of them. My tuxedo and rosseta are also big. My butlers weigh 20-24 oz. Each. They are big birds but do not lay that many eggs and take longs before they are full size.

I am also looking for the largest quail for eating. Last fall I got some Georgia Giant Bobwhites, the are growing nicely, but ended up with three girls so I may have to get more eggs if I decide to breed them for meat. From what I have learned on this thread, it is a toss-up between the Butler Bobwhites and the A&M as to who is the biggest meat bird, right?

Tileman - what are egg prices for each?

I've always wanted to have some quails for meat and eggs, and it seems that the A&M is probably the best choice for me. Many thanks to everyone who posted on this thread and monarc23 for posting the "Quail Education" page, as I sure learned a lot from all of you. Now, if I could get my hands on a few of those A&M eggs to incubate...

Ever so slightly off topic but in regards to the noise quail make, I was going to get some this spring to try and see if they are for me. But more importantly, I was going to house them in the same area that I have my pet rabbits in.

Are the quail going to drive my mini Rex's nuts?
