She's too young to lay eggs. She's only a month old or 2 months nowCannyou feel an egg just inside the swollen area? She could be egg bound or she may have a prolapse, but I can’t see the vent that well. Clean off any material on the vent, and take another picture. A human calcium citrate tablet with vitamin D tablet or a Tums can be given orally to her now in case she is egg bound or suffering a prolapse. Does there seem to be evidence that the others were pecking her vent? If she has a prolapse, keep the red tissue moist and from drying out with vaseline or a similar ointment, honey, or hydrocortisone cream.
Shes always been alone. I think she fell or something and idk. My boyfriend was the one taking care of her. He told me she was dying. So I took her and put her in a better placeShe may be suffering a prolapse, but do you know if the others have been bothering her vent? Is she picked on? I would separate her for a bit for observation and treatment.
What kind of treatment should I do though?Shes always been alone. I think she fell or something and idk. My boyfriend was the one taking care of her. He told me she was dying. So I took her and put her in a better place
Well he told me there was something on her butt before. She has normal poops. I am not sure why she doesn't have feathers back there. No one picked her. Right now her butt is swollen, she has a hard crop because she can't poop well. I've been cleaning her butt with warm water and a cotton ball. I bought some hen healer ointment which is blue. But let me get some photosIt does not look like prolapse, but rather swelling and irritation.
Is the area around the vent that looks red either squishy (think like if you open your jaw and press on the cheek with no teeth behind), only slightly squishy, or very firm?
Additionally, is there any possible reason, like another chicken, or even her, plucking her behind, that she is lacking feathers back there which you can think of?
Can we get pictures of 2 of her past poops and a close up of her face?
From my understanding, she's been raised alone as a sole chicken inside the house exclusively? What lead your boyfriend to say she was sick? Is there any other symptoms?
