Butterballs cracked the roost!!

Liz,

My roosts are old broom handles from industrial brooms. They are plenty sturdy. But as I said they are old and may have dried out enough to crack. Once they are cracked, I guess 20 or so lbs hanging on it all the time would be a bit much.

yep, my thought, too. But since my chickens are at the father-in-law's I have to get in the car and drive over since he's not home to do it for me. When I came back I thought about it but was in the middle of supper, etc. And now my little girls are in the bed asleep, so for tonight the chicks are on their own. Tomorrow, I will duct tape it all the way across if it's still there and that should last until the weekend. If not, it'll be a bit crowded, I suppose until Friday afternoon...
