Buttermilk?

I heard somewhere that you can wipe a chicken down with buttermilk before leaving to a show. Wrap them up in a towel, put them in the transport cage, and drive to the show.

Wouldn't they be sticky? Do you wipe it off when you get there?

I tried to google it and all that came up was the dinner kind of chicken. I actually read about this in a comment on Poultry Show Central, but it has since been written over.

I think it makes their feathers soft or something. Maybe it repairs the barbacils? Or whatever you call those hooks that keep the feathers together.

Well, what do I know?! I've never even seen a chicken show, much less got a chicken ready for one. Buy you must admit it sounds funny.

Oh, yeah. You tell someone you show chickens and they're like 'you give them BATHS?' an I'm like yep.
