Butternut Squash Seeds

I just scraped out the seeds from a butternut squash. Is it ok to put the seeds/ scrapings into a bowl to feed to my 3 hens? They are molting so I thought they'd benefit from the extra protein.

You could give it a try. Mine love the innards of most everything.
A good source of protein would be something like scrambled egg, tuna and mine just love chicken cooked of course. Best wishes

Butternut squash seeds would be considered more a fat source, not protein. But they will be appreciated by your chickens.

Don't know about protein in them but I would guess that they'll like them. They do have access to grit, right? Can't hurt to try!

I offered them some but they turned their beaks up! Spoiled girls.

I'm working through 2 32 gallon trash cans of butternut squash as chicken snacks.

My girls like the seeds, although they only really each the flesh if I steam it soft first. I throw a handful in a large pot every day and steam them, then let them cool overnight and throw them out to the ladies in the morning.

I cook butter nut and spaghetti squash in my microwave for my Birds. I put knife holes in it and cook for 12 minutes. They seam to prefer cooking it over raw.
