butternut squash?

hi,

i just thought id ask a quick question! im just peeling butternut squash for soup and i was thinking of giving the chickens the seeds and peelings, would this be ok? they are 11 weeks old

Older birds generally gobble up the squash innards and seeds. I like to feed a good amount of these during the upcoming months as the garden pumps them out. We process the squash for the freezer and the remains are a valuable feed supplement.

Cucurbits have a worming aspect on the birds as a bonus.

For younger birds, you might have to run the seeds and skin through the blender making a liquid soup. Mix this into your normal feed making a moist mash.
