I would like to point out, that sometimes it is less newbies making mistakes so much as newbies having bad luck. I had 23 button quail eggs in the incubator, 2 hatched and only one survived past day three. So, at the moment I've got one button quail (whom I need to check the vent on, if the part about the red feathers is right) and it is is the brooder with three young chicks that hatched at the same time. And, contrary to everyone person who told me that this quail baby would die (what are baby quail called anyways? I'm not sure i've actually seen it anywhere?) because it was in with the chicks, so far it is doing just fine, and it has been almost two months.
i'd say in terms of surviving, this one is pretty darn good eh?
granted, I will have to seperate them, but for the moment all is well
I hatched four Button chicks and one chicken chick, the 5 of them have lived together since they hatched and ate turkey starter. All the chicks are healthy and got along fine. They often cuddled up under the chicken chick at night and she sat on them like a mommy hen. I know very little about Quail, this is my first time having them but so far everything has been smooth sailing raising them with chicken chicks!
